Publisher Kalypso Media and developer Kite Games unleashed Sudden Strike 5 earlier this year, but there’s no time to take a breather from all the real-time tactical warfare. The war games have already expanded to include a new DLC expansion called France: Road to Liberation, introducing six new historically-inspired missions that take players to Operation Dragoon back in August of 1944.

Leading the charge is new French Commander Jan de Lattre de Tassigny, who ushers in a highly mobile playstyle that should switch things up for those who’ve been playing Sudden Strike 5 since launch. It also opens new strategic options, supported with the introduction of new Maquis Mobilization and Crew Vehicle Training doctrine cards—essentially giving players more ways to deploy forces and take advantage of other strategic opportunities in battle.

There are three missions each for the Allied and Axis forces, all based on Operation Dragoon. Allied missions will take you from the Camel Beach landing to the capture of Hill 300. For the Axis, you’ll evacuate your remaining forces while holding the line to the best of your capabilities. There are also six-plus new units and unit types, among which players will find the USS Edison, 302 Goliath and more.

The team at Kite Games has been busy since the launch of Sudden Strike 5, and France: Road to Liberation is just one of a selection of post-launch commitments. Prior to this they launched cop-op mode and introduced other quality-of-life updates, so real-time strategy fans have good reason to stick around.
