Contributor Guidelines

Warfare History Network is the Web Portal for Sovereign Media Company’s history publications, including WWII History, and Military Heritage magazines. Both titles are currently published quarterly in print, and digital editions, available by subscription, on newsstands, and on the Warfare History Network website.
All manuscripts must have NAME, ADDRESS, TELEPHONE, and EMAIL ADDRESS on the first page.
You may email submissions as a Word attachment to Editorial Director Carl Gnam at [email protected].
What we’re looking for: We’re looking for articles that are historically accurate, well researched and well written. Over the more than 25 years of publishing these titles we have covered many popular topics, as well as many less well-known ones. We are always looking for fresh or unique subjects, as well as new “takes” on the well-known.
It is suggested that before proposing an article on a well-known topic, you look at similar articles on our website, to help you determine how your article will bring some new and unique understanding of the topic.
We do not publish footnotes but welcome them with your manuscript in order to check facts ourselves and to discern your sources.
Illustrations: All of our articles are illustrated with a variety of photos, maps, drawings, and paintings. We obtain these from a variety of sources, including museums, picture agencies, government libraries, the internet, and more. Providing us with image suggestions and sources in a separate Word document with your article is always appreciated, and may help move your manuscript to the “front of the line.”
Payment: Payment, based on story length, is within 90 days of publication. Contributing writers also receive two complimentary copies of the issue in which their work appears.
Rights: We buy first world serial rights, including digital and reprint, and require that the story not be resold for two years.
