First launched for PC in March 2026, the multiplayer action game Over The Top: WWI has thousands of reviews on Steam for what currently sits at a “Very Positive” distinction. The game enters World War I by way of a dynamic and explosive sandbox, in which buildings collapse, fortifications crumble and trenches can be reshaped along with the rest of the landscape. The forces causing the destruction in these historical environments scale to the tune of 100-versus-100 competitive multiplayer matches, painting an appropriately chaotic picture in the process.

For those playing the game since launch or just joining in on the action, a major content update recently arrived free of charge. This one brings in U.S. troop and a fourth nation into the fray along with the option for a first-person perspective with new vehicles, weapons, and historically-inspired uniforms.

For a more specific look at the American side of the war, there’s also a paid DLC titled Over the Top: WWI-Harlem Hellfighters. You have the option to add Harlem Hellfighters outfits to eight classes along with options for four distinct headgear pieces for $3.99.

With 200-player gameplay, Over the Top can be hectic at times, but it’s clear that Flying Squirrel Entertainment is dedicated to historic accuracy. A map editor is included on top of the 14 battlefields, allowing creation and sharing your own designs, outside of the main campaign.
